CBNHS, JJSNHS vie for crown

THE Crossing Bayabas National High School (CBNHS) and Jesus J. Soriano National High School (JJSNHS) will vie for the title of the Escandor Cup 2018 Public High-School Basketball Tournament at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 16, at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

This after eliminating their respective opponents in the semifinals Saturday, September 14.

CBNHS' Alvin John Tagalog, James Saberon and Real Abulag combined for 42 points to overcome Bernardo Carpio National High School (BCNHS), 78-62, in the tournament presented by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Davao.

Tagalog led CBNHS' with game-high 17 points while Saberon and Abulag chipped in 16 and nine points, respectively.

After securing a narrow 41-36 lead at the break, CBNHS doubled its effort in the third to keep BCNHS at bay.

JJSNHS, for its part, edged Davao City National High School (DCNHS), 96-94.

Angelo Dandoy canned 33 while Prince Baroman and Jowell Vergara made 22 and 19 points, respectively.

BCNHS and DCNHS will collide for third spot at 1 p.m. today.
