SEASONED player Harison Maamo of Davao City stamped rivals to clinch the title of the recently-concluded 3rd Atty. Guevarra Online Blitz Tournament via lichess.org.

Maamo tallied 60 points in 23 matches played. He prevailed over Toril-based Dabawenyos Fide master (FM) Austin Jacob Literatus and John Ray Batucan who finished second and third, respectively.

Former National University (NU) bemedaled Uaap chesser Literatus earned 55 points in 26 outings while University of Mindanao (UM) standout Batucan made 50 points in 24 matches.

The top three winners received cash prizes of P1,000, P600 and P400 in the event sponsored by Philippine National Oil Company (Pnoc) director lawyer Alejandro Cobol and organized exclusive for Mindanaoans.

Maamo grabbed 18 wins in the chessfest but he lost thrice to Literatus in his first, 10th and 23rd assignments and once to Joey Floirendo in his third match. He drew with Eddie Resurreccion, Jr.

Trailing behind were Skylerwayne23, Jayson Salubre of Panabo City (44 points), Junmark Baldesimo of Agusan (43), Floirendo of Zamboanga (38) Supergelo12, Trump_Duterte, Johnnel Balquin of Cagayan de Oro City (32), Henry Roger Lopez of (32), Jayben Dalipe of Digos City (32) and Michael Parrenas of Surallah (32).

Meanwhile, Jeremy Marticio of Pulo National High School in Cabuyao, Laguna topped the 11th APM Students U18 Online Blitz Tournament held on Wednesday, April 29.

Fourteen-year-old Marticio registered 28 points in eight games, beating 13-year-old Angele Tenshi Biete of Las Pinas City and 14-year-old Lexie Fernandez of Holy Angel University of Pampanga who took the next two spots.

Biete also scored 28 points but Marticio edged him with superior tiebreaks based on performance. Fernandez had 25 points.

Marticio, Biete and Hernandez received P100, P50 and P30, respectively.
