DAVAO Doctors College (DDC) pair Roshua Adela Daclan and Dave Torres collected a total of six gold medals in the recently-concluded 2018 Asia Inter-Tertiary Dancesports Championships at the Singapore Polytechnic in Singapore over the weekend.

The tandem bested their rivals in the modern standard tertiary III, tertiary IIA, tertiary IIB, open II, open IIA and open IIB events.

"The six gold medals we won meant that all our efforts, hard work and constant training paid off," Daclan, in a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao, said.

Daclan and Torres, however, never thought of winning since it was their first international competition.

But after winning he modern tertiary III event, the Dabawenyos were more driven to win.

"We became more determined and motivated since we had a good start." said Daclan who described the competition "a tougher level."

Torres dedicated their feats to God, their families, coaches and their school for funding their first international stint.

DDC's dancesport coach Dr. Annaliza Castro, meanwhile, lauded Daclan and Torres for pursuing their passion for the sport.

"These athletes trained so hard. They practice every after class but they were able to manage their time, in fact, they are honor students," the proud coach said.

DDC vice president for basic education, extension and administration Angelica Torres, for her part, said the DDC community is truly blessed with Daclan and Torres.

"They have been constantly reaping awards in every competition and we're truly grateful to them for making us proud each time. We will always be here to support them to be the dancesport enthusiasts that they have envisioned themselves to be," Torres said.
