GLENNON Jhon Malisa and Jezebel Morcillo will play their first international tournament, Monday, October 29, as the Philippine national arnis team plays a friendship match with Cambodia Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation.

Malisa, a Philippine National Games (PNG) 2018 triple gold medalist, said, “I feel happy and super blessed.”

He said it was only a mini tournament as they are only playing a friendship match with the Cambodians.

The dual match between two countries serves as tune-up for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Malisa also said he’s excited and ready to compete even if it’s just a goodwill game.

The national team has been training in Manila and the Dabawenyos are staying at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) athletes’ quarters.

Kapatirang Doble Olisi Escrima head Mario Palazuelo previously expressed how proud he was of the Davao arnisadors who were chosen to be part of the national team for the country’s hosting of the biennial games on November 30 to December 11. (MLSA)
