Familiar faces spice Xmas Invitational cagefest

THE Christmas Invitational Basketball Games will feature big names in Philippine basketball as the hostility begins this December 19 at the Davao City Recreation Center, Almendras Gym.

League Commissioner Miggy Solitaria, in an interview, said it will be a star-studded casting as legends, prime players, and rising stars are spicing up the four powerhouse teams joining the two-day commercial-level tournament sponsored by

The Royal Mandaya Hotel in partnership with the City Government of Davao, Office of Congressman Paolo Duterte, and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) 11.

"Marami tayong players to watch for sa apat na teams na sumali including Team Davao, Team Pulong-Arcadia, MJE-Junex, and Montaña Pawnshop," Solitaria said.

He is pertaining to PBA Legend Peter June Simon, Meralco Bolts' Alvin Pasaol and Davao Occidental Tigers' John Wilson, and former Talk N Text guard Pong Escobal who suits up for Team Davao.

Solitaria said Team Pulong-Arcadia will also give other teams a run for their money as De La Salle University's shooting-forward Francis "Ef" Escandor, forward Kevin Quiambao and guard Mark Nonoy; Adamson University's Jerom Lastimosa; and Arellano University's Axel Doromal.

MJE-Junex, however, will rely on MPBL's Mark Yee and Billy Robles while Montaña Pawnshop fields their athletic cast led by Darrel Manliguez.

"Para din itong yung traditional na Kadayawan at Araw ng Dabaw invitational basketball, but this one is in celebration of Christmas," Solitaria said.

Solitaria, meanwhile, invites everyone to watch the games as it is open and free for the public courtesy of the sponsors.
