The Philippine Sports Commission aims to intensify grassroots sports as it recently appointed Mindanao Peace Games founder Noli Ayo as sports coordinator for Mindanao.

With an impressive background in sports leadership, Ayo shares his passionate commitment to grassroots development and creating lasting impacts in the sports community.

Ayo, current sports director of Lyceum of the Philippines-Davao, said, "The main mandate is grassroots development. Chairman Dickie wants the PSC Mindanao office to be integral in the talent identification efforts of the PSC. 'Find the next national athlete' is a line that has been constantly used in several of our discussions."

He said PSC chief Richard 'Dickie' Bachmann also tasked him to create a stronger synergy between PSC and private organizations who share the same ideals and dreams for sports.

"We hope to find companies and businesses willing to be boosters of our initiatives in finding the next world champions and Olympians," Ayo said.

Ayo's appointment also complements his previous initiatives in Mindanao, such as the Mindanao Peace Games (MPG) and the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC).

Through his new role, he hopes to strengthen the support for MPG's coaches and athletes' leadership development, creating more grassroots ambassadors and champions.

The former Ateneo de Davao University sports director also seeks to establish a stronger connection between PSC and the Bangsamoro sports initiatives, ensuring that PSC's mandate reaches the BARMM and its island provinces.

On a personal level, Ayo sees his appointment as a tremendous responsibility and an opportunity to provide larger platforms for Mindanao's coaches and sports leaders. MLSA
