FOUR Dabawenyas steered the Philippines to a runner-up finish in the Asia Rugby Under 18 Girls tournament that closed at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, India Sunday, October 28.

SOS Children's Village Davao Diana Cosare, Angela Jessa and Angelie Krista Hifume along with Aira Lumanta of Piapi Boulevard, Davao City formed part of the country's team who bowed to Qatar, 10-15, in the Plate Division Final.

Dabawenya Cosare, who studies at Philippine College of Technology (PCT), scored one try and teammate Ysabel del Fierro also added another try.

“Our little warriors we are so proud of you! Our girls fall just short in the Plate Final, the end result Qatar 15 to 10 over the Philippines. Well done, girls! You played some amazing 7s!” the Philippine Rugby-Philippine Volcanoes National Team wrote on its Facebook page.

“Thank you to each and everyone of you for representing the flag and country proudly,” she added.

Philippines routed United Arab Emirates, 17-5, in the semifinals with Angelie Hifume and Cosare as well as Inna Kwan of Cebu Lady Dragons del Fierro of Makati securing one try each.
