CEBU CITY -- Davao City's Karatedo gold medalist failed to defend his title in this years Philippine National Games.
Rexor Tacay of Davao City, a member of the national karatedo team, was hurt during a quarterfinals fight against a Dagupan rival earlier.
He won during the match against Dagupan, failed to play in the semifinals due to severe pain that is feared to be an Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Tacay's siblings, doctors and karatedo officials consoled him.
He regrets not being able to play the semis and defend his PNG gold but was assured that he would still play for the country in the upcoming Asian Games.
Tacay will have to undergo some tests and undergo rehabilitation for the Asiad.(Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan)
