THE 38th Kadayawan Rapid Chess Open 2023 excitement is set to unfold on Saturday, August 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the vibrant Damosa Market Basket in Lanang, Davao City.
The one-day Swiss System format competition welcomes participants of all ages, from children to adults.
Some 70 woodpushers are expected to see action in the event organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Region 11 and sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO).
The champion will win a trophy and a cash prize of P5,000, while the runner-up will receive P2,500 and a medal. The third placer will take home P1,500 as the fourth and fifth placers will each pocket P750.
Special awardees, such as top kiddies, junior, class B, women, senior, and PWD players, will be given P500 apiece.
The rapid chessfest is part of the Kadayawan Sports Festival, which features nearly 40 events.
