DAVAO DEL NORTE — A female member of the Civil Security Unit (CSU) of the local government of Panabo City is now in stable condition after being stabbed by a man while on duty at the Panabo City Public Terminal on July 13, 2025.

The suspect is currently detained at the Panabo City Police Station after being subdued by the public and arrested by the authorities on the same day.

At around 5 p.m., Pat. Niel E. Kasim Jr. arrived at the Panabo City Police Station and turned over the suspect identified as Warnito Nunez Malubay, 49, married, a construction worker, and resident of Purok 13, Lubogan, Toril, Davao City.

The suspect reportedly stabbed the victim, identified as Grena Casalta Decena, 54, a resident of Purok 4, Brgy. San Vicente, Panabo City. She was immediately brought to Davao del Norte Hospital (Carmen Zone) for treatment.

Shortly after, she was transferred to the Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City for further medical care, where she was later declared to be in stable condition.

Initial investigations showed that while the victim was on duty at the terminal in Brgy. New Pandan, an unidentified woman approached her seeking help. As the victim was attending to the woman, the suspect suddenly arrived and, for no apparent reason, stabbed the victim.

A 30-inch Swiss knife was recovered from the crime scene.

Chaos then ensued, and bystanders, reportedly including pedicab drivers, ganged up on the suspect and beat him up after witnessing the stabbing.

It was learned that the suspect had an argument with his wife at a nearby fast food chain. During their fight, the wife ran toward the terminal to seek help.

At that moment, CSU personnel approached to mediate between the two, but the suspect suddenly stabbed the victim.

Further reports revealed that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol during the incident. DTV with reports from Jeepy P. Compio
