THE Philippine Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (PCG-CGDSEM) rescued a fisherman from Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, who had been missing for several days.

Dominador Quesada, 27, was safely returned to his family on February 3, 2025, after being stranded at sea since January 31.

Quesada, a resident of Purok 1-B, Brgy. Nangan, Governor Generoso, was fishing aboard a non-motorized banca near Barangay Tagabebe when he was caught by severe weather conditions. The Coast Guard explained that strong winds and rough waves caused him to drift toward the coastline of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

After receiving a distress call, the Coast Guard launched a search-and-rescue operation. On February 3, rescuers found Quesada along the Jose Abad Santos coastline and brought him to safety. He was then transported to Barangay Caburan Small in North Jose Abad Santos, where local authorities assisted in his return home.

The Coast Guard reminded local fishermen to avoid venturing to sea during adverse weather conditions. They underscored the importance of staying informed about weather updates and prioritizing safety to prevent similar incidents. DEF
