DAVAO Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, a week before Christmas due to Tropical Depression (TD) Querubin spotted east of Davao del Norte.

In a weather advisory of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on December 17 valid until December 18, 2024, Querubin and the shear line would also bring heavy to intense rains in Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

Moderate to heavy rains will be experienced by Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, and Davao City.

“Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains. Minimal to minor threat to lives and properties due to strong winds,” the state weather bureau stated.

Querubin is the 17th tropical cyclone to form inside or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this year.

Currently, the northeast monsoon, shear line, and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) are the weather systems that are also affecting this week's atmospheric conditions in various regions of the country. DEF
