THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is set to deploy additional personnel for Vice President Sara Duterte's visit during the 88th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

DCPO spokesperson Police Captain Hazel Tuazon confirmed in an interview with dxDC that security measures will be heightened on March 16, 2025, as the Vice President is expected to attend and lead the Parada Dabawenyo.

Currently, Duterte is in Hong Kong with her father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD), campaigning among the Filipino migrant community for PDP-Laban's senatorial candidates. Their trip, which began on March 7, has sparked speculation that they may be avoiding potential legal issues. While in Hong Kong, the Vice President endorsed PDP-Laban's candidates at the "Pasasalamat kay PRRD with OFWs" event at Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai.

For Araw ng Dabaw, a total of 8,369 public safety and security personnel will be deployed from March 1 to 16.

Angel Sumagaysay, head of the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO), said the security team will include units from the Civil Security Unit (CSU), City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), City Disaster Risk and Management Office (CDRRMO), Task Force Davao, City Health Office (CHO), and City Economic Enterprise (CEE).

The broader security cluster will also involve agencies such as the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), among others. DEF
