TRABAHO Partylist has reaffirmed its strong support for the Department of Labor and Employment's (Dole) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program, citing its vital role in uplifting marginalized and vulnerable sectors across the country through emergency employment and skills development.

In a recent initiative, 15 female persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Puerto Princesa City Jail participated in a Tupad training program, equipping them with job readiness skills aimed at facilitating their reintegration into society post-incarceration. This marks another step forward in ensuring that no Filipino is left behind in the journey toward inclusive recovery and empowerment.

The Tupad program offers short-term employment and livelihood assistance to displaced workers, underemployed individuals, seasonal laborers, and other disadvantaged groups. Beneficiaries typically work in community-based projects such as clean-up drives, infrastructure repairs, and environmental activities lasting up to 30 days.

Trabaho Partylist emphasized that its commitment to the labor sector includes prioritizing services for groups often excluded from mainstream economic opportunities, including PDLs, solo parents, indigenous peoples, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and informal sector workers such as street vendors and construction laborers.

“Our goal is to create dignified work for all Filipinos, especially those at the fringes of society. Programs like Tupad give them not only temporary income but also a renewed sense of purpose and belonging,” Trabaho Partylist spokesperson Atty. Mitchell-David Espiritu said,

Trabaho continues to advocate for increased funding and broader implementation of programs like Tupad in urban poor communities, remote barangays, and areas recovering from conflict or natural disasters.

The partylist maintains that true economic development can only be achieved when opportunities reach the most vulnerable members of society.

As the country strives to recover from ongoing economic challenges, the synergy between Dole’s programs and legislative allies, such as Trabaho Partylist, is critical in building a more inclusive, resilient, and equitable workforce. PR
