THE National Public Transport Coalition-Van Rental Group (NPTC-VRG) expressed concerns over the recent drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Davao Region (Pdea-Davao) on Iñigo Street, Davao City, where 86 member drivers failed to show up.
Bryan Manguiob, NPTC Operations Head, reiterated the association's long-standing policy: drivers must pass a drug test before being allowed to operate. He emphasized the "No Drug Test, No Travel Policy," which prevents drivers from setting their own schedules if they miss the test, and requires them to wait for a rescheduled test organized by the NPTC.
Of the 250 van drivers tested, three were found positive for drugs and were sent to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for confirmatory tests. If confirmed, these drivers will be expelled from the association.
The NPTC-VRG fully supports the Department of Transportation’s “Stop Road Crash” initiative, which aims to reduce road accidents and improve passenger safety in collaboration with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTRFB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
The NPTC's strict policies reflect their commitment to maintaining public transport safety and professionalism. DEF
