TWO women were arrested in an entrapment operation by the National Bureau of Investigation - South Eastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-SEMRO) on March 19, 2025, in Davao City for allegedly selling fake “raw lots.” They are now set to undergo summary inquest proceedings.

The suspects face charges for estafa (swindling) under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code and violations of Republic Act 9646, which regulates real estate practice in the Philippines.

During a press conference at the NBI-SEMRO office in Bajada, Davao City, the arrested individuals were presented to the media.

NBI-SEMRO director Atty. Archie Albao said the suspects used Facebook to post fake property listings, luring buyers with fraudulent offers.

“Mga fixers ito sila, mag-post sila ng mga property sa Facebook, and they don’t have LTS, also they don’t have license sa PRC na brokers sila (These are fixers who advertise properties online without a license to sell or accreditation as brokers from the PRC),” Albao said.

The operation was launched after multiple victims reported losing over ₱1 million to the scheme. The legitimate owner of the property falsely marketed as “raw lots” also filed a complaint.

Authorities are urging other victims to come forward as investigations continue. The suspects remain in NBI-SEMRO custody. JPC
