Unit 6 dominated Day 1 of the Davao City Athletic Association (Dcaa) Meet 2025 swimming competition held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City.
Led by Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) swimmers, Unit 6 claimed 13 golds, 14 silvers, and 10 bronzes to lead the swimfest, followed by Unit 1 with nine golds, seven silvers, and nine bronzes.
Unit 8 secured third place with seven golds, three silvers, and two bronzes, while Unit 7 was fourth with two golds, three silvers, and six bronzes.
Unit 5 came in fifth with one gold, one silver, and one bronze. Units 3 (0-2-2), 4 (0-2-0), and 2 (0-0-1) finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
As of press time on Wednesday, February 5, Day 2 of the swimming competition was still underway.
Palaro veterans Juan Alessandro Suarez and Stacey Bernice Requiza paced Unit 6's medal haul.
Suarez earned four golds, including victories in the secondary boys’ 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley (IM).
He also helped Unit 6's golden finishes in secondary boys 200m medley relay with Pietro Dominic Requiza, Sean Alan de Leon, and Almar Christian de Leon, and 400m medley relay alongside Archibald Nicolas Lonzaga and the De Leon brothers.
Requiza earned two golds in the secondary girls’ 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle. She added another gold in the secondary girls’ 400m medley relay with Jaden Monique Labog, Maisie Vernice Labog, and Jemeina Alexandria Pagaran.
Other gold medalists for Unit 6 included Pietro Dominic Requiza (secondary boys’ 100m backstroke), Georgia Summer Peñeiro (elementary girls’ 100m butterfly), Jahred Carlos Basan (elementary boys’ 400m freestyle), Ryker Peñeiro (elementary boys’ 100m backstroke), Dana Margarette Maligro (elementary girls’ 100m backstroke), and the elementary girls’ 400m medley relay team of Winona Jamie Liong, Anika Theone Chua, Joguylen Sohier, and Corinne Lagutin.
