Vice mayoral candidate Bernie Al-ag has issued a bold challenge to his fellow contenders in the 2025 midterm elections: take part in a public election debate and voluntarily undergo a hair follicle drug test in the name of transparency and accountability.

“Let’s talk about issues, not personalities. This isn’t about calling someone ugly or making personal attacks. What matters is that we discuss the real problems facing Davao City — because right now, there are many,” Al-ag said during a radio interview on May 2, 2025, emphasizing the need for a campaign focused on solutions and substance.

The proposed debate is expected to be organized in collaboration with an educational institution, with the final date and venue to be announced soon.

Addressing growing concerns about illegal drugs, Al-ag also urged the other three vice mayoral candidates to join him in undergoing a hair follicle drug test, to be conducted on or immediately after May 5, 2025.

He underscored that the initiative is not only a demonstration of transparency but also an effort to set a higher standard of integrity in public service. PR
