VICE President Sara Duterte sees “no problem” with the use and sharing of an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video supporting the Dutertes. This, after an AI-generated video showing an interview with a youth saying he is against Duterte’s impeachment, went viral online.

Duterte said there is no problem with it, as long as it will not be used as a business model.

She explained further that when a content creator creates AI-generated videos in support of a certain personality, they are not selling any products and thus, not making any money from it.

“If gagawa ako ng AI to support a certain personality, walang problema doon kasi hindi naman siya ginagawang negosyo. Hindi ko naman siya binebenta sa mga tao (If I create an AI to support a certain personality, there's no problem with that because it's not being used for business. I'm not selling it to people anyway),” she said in a media interview during the 2025 OVP Pasidungog on Monday, June 16, 2025, at SMX Convention Center in Lanang, Davao City.

Earlier, Davao City Mayor and Vice Mayor-elect Sebastian “Baste” Duterte and Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa faced criticisms when they shared an AI-generated video of an interview of young Filipinos saying that they are against the impeachment of Sara.

In his shared post of the AI-generated video, Baste captioned, “And the liberals say they have Gen Z support. Come on.”

Meanwhile, Dela Rosa said “Mabuti pa ang mga bata nakakaintindi sa mga pangyayari. Makinig kayo mga yellow at mga komunista (Even the children understand what's happening. Listen, you yellows and communists).”

The senator followed his shared post, saying that he does not care whether it was AI-generated or “Manobo-generated”, as he is not after the messenger, but on the message. He further pleads “not to shoot the messenger without reading the message that he delivers.”

Malacanang slammed Baste and Dela Rosa for sharing the AI-generated video, saying that what they are doing is a form of peddling false information to the public.

Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said that sharing this type of fake news should not be done by someone from the government.

Nakakaduda, mas nakakawala ng tiwala kung mismong sa matataas na opisyal nanggagaling ang mga disinformation at fake news (It's suspicious and even more trust-breaking when disinformation and fake news come from high-ranking officials themselves),” she said.

The vice president also revealed that there are numerous companies that have been running anti-Sara campaigns online, and that she knows what they are doing and that they are paid. Duterte said that what is being done to her is “threats, harassment, and intended to disqualify” her in the 2028 presidential elections.

She also questioned how legitimate Facebook owners, who are supporting the Dutertes, are called to the Tricom, but companies that employ this type of program to ruin the image of an individual are not even called to the Tricom for investigation under the House of Representatives. This comes after a report by OpenAI linking Comm&Sense Incorporated, a public relations firm based in Makati, to have used AI to create social media posts and comments criticizing Sara.

“So ‘yan nagpapakita na itong lahat ay ano lang talaga, politika, at harassment sa mga kalaban sa pulitika ng administrasyon (So that shows that all of this is really just politics and harassment against the political opponents of the administration),” she said.

However, Sara said that she is not keen on filing charges against the company. RGP
