THE Bureau of Fire Protection-Davao Region (BFP-Davao) confirmed that the warehouse fire that broke out at Purok 2B, Mudiang Road, Barangay Ilang, Davao City on Tuesday afternoon, January 14, 2025, claimed the lives of two workers and caused an estimated P8.4 million in damages.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Davao City Fire District Station, the blaze started at 2:47 p.m. and was declared fire out at 4:39 p.m. It also reached a second alarm, causing total damage to the 700-square-meter warehouse.
The victims were identified as Gian Subla, 19, of Loreto, Agusan del Sur, and Reyeel Dion Mansing, 20, of Barangay Miranda, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS). Both were employees of the Davao Wanshida Inc.
According to City Fire spokesperson Sr. Inspector Frances Mae Sendrijas, the dead bodies of the individuals were found in the rubble and ash after being trapped inside the big storage facility that housed playmats.
As of press writing, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, the remains of the victims will be returned to their respective families in their provinces. DEF
