AS AN exercise in democracy, elections engage us in politics, “one of the highest forms of charity, because it serves the common good” (Fratelli Tutti, 180).

We shall elect leaders who will preserve and protect democracy, and reject those who weaken it through patronage (e.g. ayuda), political dynasty, incompetence, corruption, and authoritarianism.

Through these elections, we strengthen our democratic principles and way of life, uphold the rule of law, protect truth, work for justice, and promote transparent and accountable governance.

As an exercise in discernment, we recommit to the formation of conscience grounded in our Christian Catholic values, ethical principles, and social teachings.

We shall listen compassionately, act courageously, and vote according to our conscience and discernment of God’s will for the future of our beloved country and our people, especially those who are neglected and marginalized.

We shall vote for leaders who wield power for service, those who can sacrifice personal interests for the common good, those who humbly submit to the authority of God and His people.

In this Jubilee Year of Hope in our Church, the May 2025 Elections gives us tremendous hope in our people, especially our youth, in our leaders, in our country.

Let us pray fervently that this Christ-centered hope, which does not disappoint (Romans 5:5), will make our beloved country more united, more democratic, more progressive, more peaceful.
