BAYAN Muna Southern Mindanao commends Dabawenyo delivery riders under the UDDRA United Davao Delivery Riders Association  for their recent victory at the Davao City Council, wherein amendments to the Revenue Code of Davao were approved on final reading thereby greatly reducing business tax payments of delivery riders from P2,700-4,000 to a yearly occupational fee of P125.

The recent Davao City Council measure is a product of UDDRA's campaign to abolish exorbitant business permit requirements and other restrictive policies that burden Dabawenyo delivery riders since 2021. This is a step in the right direction. But, the campaign is not yet over as delivery riders and Dabawenyo communities are still experiencing the effects of inflation, high cost of living, and lack of economic opportunities in the city. More work needs to be done to amplify the calls for raising workers' wages, creating regular jobs, quality public services, and advancing civil liberties.

We in Bayan Muna Southern Mindanao encourage delivery riders and workers to get organized and assert their rights and welfare. Through collective action, we can achieve more victories for our communities and sectors.
