THE 12th Infantry (Lick 'Em) Battalion (12IB), based in Calinog, Iloilo and headed by Lieutenant Colonel Richard Caliva, joined the “Lambunao in Action” radio program of Lambunao Radio 103.9 FM on March 31, 2026, in Lambunao, Iloilo.
The activity aims to enhance public awareness and strengthen coordination with partner agencies through information dissemination on government programs and security updates.
Caliva, commander of the 12IB, said the engagement forms part of the unit’s continuing effort to reach communities and strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, highlighting the importance of accurate and timely information in promoting public safety and development.
The radio program served as a platform for the Philippine Army to share updates on the current security situation in the Municipality of Lambunao and within the unit’s area of operations.
The discussion focused on maintaining peace and order, as well as supporting initiatives of local government units aimed at sustaining development and stability in communities.
Officials said the activity underscores the army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in communities through non-combat engagements, including information campaigns and coordination with local stakeholders.
These efforts are aligned with the whole-of-nation approach, which promotes cooperation among government agencies, local government units, and the public in addressing security concerns and development challenges.
During the program, the 12IB emphasized the importance of public cooperation in sustaining peace gains and preventing the resurgence of threats that may affect the stability of communities.
The unit also reiterated its role in supporting programs that enhance community resilience and ensure a secure environment for residents.
The discussion was facilitated by Norlene Los Bañes, executive assistant for communications of the Municipal Mayor of Lambunao, who hosted the program and guided the exchange of information.
She highlighted the importance of accurate information dissemination in empowering the public and strengthening trust between communities and government institutions.
The participation of the 12IB in the radio program forms part of its broader mandate to secure communities and support peace and development initiatives in its area of operations.
The unit continues to work closely with local government units and partner agencies to sustain a peaceful and progressive environment.
The Philippine Army, through the 12IB, reaffirmed its commitment to fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders, ensuring that government programs reach communities, and maintaining peace and order in Western Visayas.
The activity also demonstrated the importance of communication platforms such as local radio programs in bridging the gap between government agencies and the public. By providing updates and addressing concerns, these platforms contribute to transparency, awareness, and community engagement.
The 12IB said it will continue to participate in similar engagements to strengthen its relationship with the public and support initiatives that promote safety, security, and development across Iloilo Province.
The unit added that sustained collaboration with communities and stakeholders remains key to achieving long-term peace and stability in its area of operations.
The 12IB remains committed to its mandate of securing communities, supporting peace and development programs, and fostering partnerships that contribute to a safe and progressive environment for all. (Leo Solinap)
