THE 12th Infantry (Lick 'Em) Battalion of the Philippine Army based in Calinog, Iloilo, provided security support to 24 delegates from the National University of Singapore during their environmental and community immersion in Barangay Daja, Maasin, Iloilo, from May 21 to June 4, 2025.
The Philippine Army ensured the safety of international guests during their environmental and cultural exchanges, as stated by Noemie Marie Magullado, officer-in-charge of Maasin's Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (Menro).
The Singaporean delegates, in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Maasin and led by Menro, participated in a tree-planting activity at the Maasin Watershed as part of the town's ongoing reforestation and environmental conservation efforts.
Aside from environmental action, the NUS team immersed themselves in the lives of residents by experiencing local traditions, culture, and everyday living in Barangay Daja.
Their itinerary also included visits to several scenic spots in the area, promoting Maasin's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
The 12IB ensured the security of the entire program, reaffirming the Philippine Army’s commitment to peace, development, and stronger civil-military ties. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Phippines)
