THREE high-value individuals were arrested in a drug bust that resulted in the confiscation of around 410 grams of shabu worth P2.8 million and an unlicensed firearm in Barangay Gines, Miagao, Iloilo at 2:21 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025.
The arrested individuals were identified as alias Negro, 47, a resident of Barangay Salvacion Habog-Habog, Molo, Iloilo City; alias Baho, 37, a resident of Barangay Gines, Miagao, Iloilo; and alias Leen, 38, a resident of Paguntalan Street, Barangay Bolho, Miagao, Iloilo.
According to the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit in Western Visayas (RPDEU 6), the three suspects conspired to sell one sachet of shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P12,500 in marked money.
Recovered from the suspects during the operation were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu, seven big heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu, 11 more sachets of shabu, P12,500 buy-bust money, P1,070 cash, one cellular phone, one .38 caliber revolver loaded with four live ammunition, one improvised glass tooter, two aluminum strips, two rolled aluminum foil, one digital weighing scale, and other non-drug-related paraphernalia.
The seized illegal drugs have an estimated street value of P6,000 per gram, placing the total standard drug price at P2,788,000.
The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights in a language they understood.
They were then brought to the nearest hospital for medical examination and will undergo booking procedures prior to the filing of formal charges for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The operation was carried out by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit in Western Visayas, with support from the Miagao Municipal Police Station and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office. (Leo Solinap)
