

A TOTAL of 450 public schools across Western Visayas suspended face-to-face classes and shifted to alternative delivery modes (ADM) due to inclement weather.
The Department of Education (DepEd) Region VI reported this on Monday, July 21, 2025.
As of 9 a.m., DepEd Western Visayas stated the shift to ADM affected 205,558 public school learners in four divisions: Iloilo Province, Iloilo City, Guimaras, and Antique.
Iloilo Province recorded the highest impact, with 300 schools and 105,625 learners moving to ADM. This includes schools in Oton, Leganes, Pavia, Tigbauan, Dumangas, San Joaquin, Guimbal, Barotac Nuevo, Calinog, Leon, and Iloilo National High School.
In Iloilo City, 66 schools suspended in-person classes, affecting 75,010 learners.
Guimaras followed with 63 affected schools in Jordan, Sibunag, and Nueva Valencia, impacting 21,209 learners.
In Antique, 21 schools shifted to ADM—20 in Anini-y and one in Sibalom—affecting a total of 3,714 learners.
The decision followed local chief executives' announcements of class suspensions due to persistent heavy rains and flooding.
As of 5:20 a.m., July 21, 2025, the following towns declared suspension of face-to-face classes:
1. Oton – all levels
2. Leganes – all levels
3. Pavia – all levels
4. Tigbauan – kindergarten to senior high school
5. Dumangas – all levels
6. San Joaquin – all levels
7. Guimbal – all levels
8. Barotac Nuevo – kindergarten to senior high school
9. Iloilo National High School
10. Calinog – all levels
11. Leon – all levels
