

A TOTAL of 88 barangays across Iloilo City were reported flooded from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 23, 2025, following persistent rains, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The highest flood levels were recorded in Taft North, Mandurriao District and Calubihan, Jaro District with water reaching up to 37 inches.
Only two barangays -- Buntatala and Lanit in Jaro -- reported subsiding floodwaters as of 2:50 p.m., the CDRRMO’s Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System (BDRRMS) Division said.
In La Paz District, 19 barangays experienced flooding, with Divinagracia reporting 16 to 18 inches of floodwaters, and San Isidro suffering up to 1.5 feet of water that entered homes in Zone 1.
Lopez Jaena Sur, Lopez Jaena Norte, and Aguinaldo also reported widespread flooding, with depths ranging from 10 to 17 inches in various zones.
Jaro District followed with 14 affected barangays. Calubihan recorded the deepest floodwaters in the city at 37 inches. M.V. Hechanova (Gran Plains Subdivision) recorded 15 to 18 inches, while Desamparados, Cuartero, and Tabuc Suba experienced 13 to 19 inches of flooding in several areas.
Molo District had 18 flooded barangays. East Baluarte's Purok Paraiso and Purok Paghidaet recorded up to 19 inches of flooding, while Infante had 19 inches in Puroks 4 and 5. Katilingban, North Avanceña, and San Pedro also faced flood levels between 10 and 19 inches.
In Lapuz District, six barangays were inundated. Sinikway, Don Esteban, and Loboc had water levels of six to 10 inches in key residential areas, including San Lorenzo Village and Sitio Holy Family.
Mandurriao District reported flooding in 15 barangays. Taft North and Dungon C both registered flood depths of up to 37 inches in Zones 1 and 7 respectively. Hibao-an Sur, Sta. Rosa, Navais, and PHHC Blocks 17-28 also reported high water levels ranging from 16 to 23 inches.
Arevalo District listed eight barangays as flooded. Barangay Sooc areas such as Project 6, Project 7, GK Village, and Sooc Proper experienced nearly one foot of floodwater.
Other affected areas included Sto. Domingo, Yulo Drive, Bonifacio, and Sto. Niño Norte and Sur with depths ranging from 10 to 12 inches.
City Proper District reported flooding in eight barangays. Tanza Timawa II, Tanza Esperanza, and San Agustin recorded six to 10 inches of floodwater, while Flores (near the Iloilo Terminal Market), Zamora Melliza, and Malipayon zones reported up to eight inches.
The CDRRMO continues to monitor the affected areas for any significant changes. Rapid assessments are being conducted by local barangay disaster teams for timely response and relief distribution. (Leo Solinap)
