THE Aklan Police Provincial Office's (Akppo) intensified manhunt operation led to the arrest of the province’s sixth most wanted person (MWP) for murder in Barangay New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan around 7:20 p.m. on June 25, 2025.
The suspect, identified only as alias Mer-mer, 28, and a resident of Barangay Fulgencio, Balete, Aklan, was apprehended by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder.
No bail was recommended for the accused.
The arrested individual is now under police custody and will be turned over to the court concerned.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), commended the Balete Municipal Police Station and the Akppo Tracker Team for the successful operation.
“This feat was achieved through the collaborative efforts of the community and our force multipliers,” said Ligan.
