Army holds sustainment training for Iloilo reservists

THE Philippine Army’s 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion launched the Company Sustainment Training (CST) for Alpha Company, 604th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion at Camp Monteclaro, Barangay Igtuba, Miagao, Iloilo on June 7, 2025.

The activity aims to strengthen operational readiness and refresh the capabilities of the Army reservists.

Lieutenant Colonel Arturo Balgos Jr., commanding officer of the 61st Infantry Battalion, served as the guest of honor and speaker during the opening ceremony.

“The strength of our Armed Forces lies not only in our regular troops but also in the dedication and readiness of our reservists,” Balgos said.

Balgos emphasized the importance of Company Sustainment Training in sharpening skills, reinforcing discipline, and strengthening service commitment.

"Your presence here today is a testament to your patriotism and willingness to serve our people in times of peace, crisis, and conflict,” Balgos said.

Also present were Colonel Jonathan Gayas, group commander of the 6th Regional Community Defense Group of the Reserve Command (6RCDG), Philippine Army; and Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Matutina, director of the 604th Community Defense Center, 6RCDG, Reserve Command, Philippine Army.

The CST is attended by five reservist officers and 130 enlisted reservists from Alpha Company.

The training is part of the Army Reserve Command’s continuing efforts to develop well-prepared citizen-soldiers capable of addressing internal security threats and supporting humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
