THE Capiz Police Provincial Office-Intelligence Unit confiscated four live cartridges of a caliber .45 firearm and one hand grenade during the implementation of two search warrants for violations of Republic Act (RA) 10591 and RA 9516 in Barangay Dayao, Roxas City, Capiz around 4:55 p.m. on June 23, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), said, “This accomplishment is the result of a strong collaborative effort between the police and the community in the ongoing campaign against loose firearms.”
Ligan has urged community members to remain vigilant and report individuals with loose or undocumented firearms to ensure a safer and more secure environment for everyone.
The subject of the operation was identified as alias Genel, 28, a resident of Barangay Dayao.
The search warrants were implemented for alleged violations of RA 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and RA 9516, which imposes penalties for illegal possession, manufacture, and dealing of explosives.
The operation was carried out with the support of the Roxas Component City Police Station, and the Provincial Explosive Canine Unit of Capiz.
The suspect is now under police custody and will be charged accordingly. (Leo Solinap)
