A HIGH-VALUE individual (HVI) was arrested during a buy-bust conducted by personnel of Balasan Municipal Police Station in Purok 4, Barangay Salong, Balasan, Iloilo, at 7:43 p.m. on July 14, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), commended the efforts of the Balasan police.
“This is proof of our relentless campaign against illegal drugs. Our police force will not stop until we achieve our dream of a drug-free Western Visayas,” Ligan said.
The suspect, identified only by the alias Putot, 46, a resident of Balasan, Iloilo, was apprehended after selling shabu to an undercover police officer.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 98.6 grams of shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P670,480, as well as an unknown caliber revolver.
Also recovered from the suspect were six pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, one unit of an unknown caliber revolver, three pieces of 9mm live ammunition, buy-bust money, and various non-drug items.
The suspect is currently under the custody of Balasan police and will face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013. (Leo Solinap)
