THE Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office in Western Visayas (DSWD 6) distributed over P15.8 million in relief assistance to families affected by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclone Crising across the region.

DSWD 6 Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Joselito G. Estember directed the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) to coordinate closely with local government units under red alert. He stressed the importance of collaboration for timely aid delivery.

“Following the directive of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, we remain committed to ensuring that no community is left hungry and behind amid the onslaught of natural calamities,” Estember said.

On July 21, 2025, DSWD 6 delivered P15,691,817.57 worth of Family Food Packs (FFPs) and P200,028.00 in Non-Food Items (NFIs). These went to affected residents in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental, according to the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report.

Although Crising exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility over the weekend, DSWD 6 continues its disaster response. The agency maintains a stockpile valued at P128,753,547.56 and a standby fund of P2.79 million.

The agency’s DRMD also monitored evacuation centers, checking facilities like comfort rooms and community kitchens. Hot meals were provided to Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) at Parola Wharf in Iloilo City. Additionally, Child-Friendly Space (CFS) activities supported children among the internally displaced.
