ILONGGO households will enjoy lower electricity bills this June as More Electric and Power Corporation (More Power) announced a P0.61 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) decrease in residential electricity rates, from P11.12/kWh in May to P10.52/kWh.
“This reduction is a big help for ordinary families, especially now that classes are about to start. Every peso saved on electric bills can be redirected to support their children’s schooling,” said More Power President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Castro.
An average household consuming 200 kWh per month will save P122—timely relief as families face back-to-school expenses for supplies, uniforms, and other school-related costs. Commercial customers will also benefit from a reduced rate of P9.84/kWh, down from P10.45 in May.
The rate reduction was primarily driven by a P0.40/kWh decrease in generation charges, largely due to the lower average cost in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (Wesm), which dropped from P4.45/kWh to P3.70/kWh following improved power supply across the grid.
Additional savings came from a P0.0939/kWh decrease in the transmission charge, primarily due to reduced Ancillary Services – Reserve Market (AS-RM) costs.
More Power also cited its low system loss of just 5.73 percent as a key contributor to the overall rate reduction.
Castro emphasized that the company remains focused on monitoring generation mix prices and securing the most affordable and reliable power supply for consumers in Iloilo City.
“We understand the financial pressures that come with the start of the school year, and we want to do our part in helping Ilonggo families,” he said.
Castro said the company aims to deliver savings directly to consumers by consistently sourcing power at the lowest rates and optimizing operations.
The power distributor's move reflects its continued commitment to easing the burden of high power costs for its customers while maintaining operational efficiency and strong community support.
More Power adjusted residential rates in 2025 to account for generation and transmission costs, system loss, and operational efficiencies.
The monthly residential rates in 2025 were as follows:
January – P10.9567/kWh
February – P11.2013/kWh
March – P10.4177/kWh
April – P12.0344/kWh
May – P11.1354/kWh
June – P10.52/kWh
