THE Station Drug Enforcement Team of Estancia Municipal Police Station (MPS) apprehended a high-value individual (HVI) and an accomplice during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tacbuyan, Estancia, Iloilo, around 10:40 p.m. on April 10, 2025.
Iloilo Police Provincial Office (Ippo) Provincial Director Police Colonel Bayani M. Razalan, announced an operation to hold those involved in the illegal drug trade accountable and continue its mission to eradicate drug personalities.
"We urge those still involved to cease their unlawful activities before the law catches up with them. We also call on the public to continue supporting our efforts. With your cooperation, we can build a safer, drug-free Iloilo," Razalan said.
The primary suspect, identified as alias Jun Jun, 42, a laborer and resident of Purok 1, Barangay Tacbuyan, Estancia, is classified as a HVI. Also arrested was his accomplice, known as alias Siping, 18, a helper from Barangay Tabu-an, Estancia.
During the operation, approximately 99 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P673,200 were confiscated. Authorities said the illegal drugs were reportedly sourced from Iloilo City and distributed in Estancia and nearby towns.
The buy-bust was launched after police received information from concerned citizens regarding the suspects’ illegal drug activities.
Formal charges are being prepared against the two suspects for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Both remain in police custody while further investigation and legal procedures are ongoing.
The Ippo continues to call on the public to report any suspicious or drug-related activities to the nearest police station as community cooperation remains vital in the campaign against illegal drugs. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
