AUTHORITIES found a firearm, ammunition, and a rifle grenade during the execution of a search warrant in Barangay Toledo, Nabas, Aklan, leading to the arrest of a 65-year-old man around 11 a.m. on June 12, 2025.

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), praised the Aklan Police Provincial Office (Akppo) for the successful operation.

"This successful operation demonstrates PRO 6's ardent determination in pursuing individuals possessing loose firearms and holding them accountable under our laws." Wanky said.

He advised individuals with loose and undocumented firearms to surrender them to the nearest police unit to avoid accountability.

Recovered from the suspect, known by the alias Milo and a married resident of Barangay Toledo, was a loaded .38 revolver containing three live rounds and a 40mm rifle grenade.

With assistance from the 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Akppo Intelligence Unit, the Nabas Municipal Police Station (MPS) conducted the operation.

The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
