A MAN listed as the most wanted person at the municipal level was arrested around 3:25 p.m. of May 23, 2025, in Barangay Manaulan, Lambunao, Iloilo, after 28 years in hiding.

Alias Gerry, a farmer and resident of Barangay Manaulan, was arrested by the Tracker Team of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by Police Captain Jose Winston Biadog, officer-in-charge.

“This successful operation underscores the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s unwavering dedication in apprehending criminals and ensuring Iloilo’s safety for all,” said Police Colonel Roland Bulalacao, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (Ippo).

Bulalacao said the Tracker Team will swiftly locate and hold criminals accountable, adding that Iloilo does not provide refuge for fugitives.

The operation was carried out by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by the presiding judge of Branch 33, Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region, Iloilo City, dated November 28, 1997. No bail was recommended.

Alias Gerry was the primary suspect in a fatal shooting that took place in 1997 in Barangay Paho, Lambunao, which resulted in the immediate death of a male victim.

According to intelligence gathered by the Lambunao MPS Tracker Team, Gerry had fled to Mindanao shortly after the incident and remained in hiding for decades.

Recently, concerned citizens reported sightings of the fugitive back in his hometown. Acting on these tips, law enforcement officers launched a targeted operation that led to his arrest without incident.

Gerry is currently under the custody of Lambunao MPS for proper disposition and legal proceedings.

The Ippo urged residents across Iloilo province to remain vigilant and cooperative with law enforcement efforts.

“We encourage every Ilonggo to continue joining us in this vital effort by remaining alert and sharing any information that can help us keep Iloilo safe and secure,” Ippo said in a statement. (Leo Solinap)
