AUTHORITIES arrested a high-value drug target and seized approximately 50 grams of substance believed to be shabu worth P340,000 during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Signe, Igbaras, Iloilo around 10:30 p.m. on July 2, 2025.
The suspect, identified only as alias Rodel, 35, a laborer and resident of Barangay 2, Igbaras, was the subject of the operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Igbaras Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit in Western Visayas (RPDEU), and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (Ippo).
Recovered from the suspect were 16 heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu, a small rolled aluminum foil with drug residue, buy-bust money, proceeds of the illegal transaction, and other non-drug-related items.
The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Jose Ligan, acting regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), praised the coordinated effort.
“I congratulate our operating units for the successful arrest and seizure of a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs. This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to the anti-illegal drug campaign in Western Visayas,” Ligan said. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
