High-value drug target arrested, P1.3-M shabu seized in Capiz raid

A HIGH-VALUE individual (HVI) was arrested and an estimated P1.3 million worth of suspected shabu was seized during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Banica, Roxas City, Capiz at around 7:21 a.m. on July 1, 2025.

Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, acting regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), commended the operating units and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in anti-drug efforts.

“This accomplishment is a clear testament to the unwavering dedication and relentless efforts of our personnel in the fight against illegal drugs," Ligan said.

He emphasized the importance of intensifying operations and vigilance to protect communities, calling on the public to continue supporting and cooperating in eradicating this menace from society.

The suspect, identified as alias Cobra, 22, a laborer and resident of the said barangay, is listed under the provincial priority target list. He is now under police custody and will be facing charges for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was a joint effort of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) – Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 6, Roxas City Component City Police Station (CCPS), and the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC).

Authorities recovered the following items during the search:

- 38 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 190 grams;

- One Oppo cellphone;

- Several non-drug-related items;

- Six pieces of unfired ammunition of various calibers; and

- One piece of fired cartridge from a caliber .357 firearm.
