THE Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo) has intensified its security operations in preparation for Semana Santa 2025, deploying more personnel and increasing police visibility across the city to ensure public safety during the Holy Week.
The initiative is in line with the regional effort of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) under “Oplan Ligtas Semana Santa,” which covers churches, pilgrimage sites, and tourist destinations across the region.
“As we approach the observance of Semana Santa, I urge everyone to observe security guidelines: secure your homes, ensure road safety, remain mindful in public areas, and observe health precautions,” said Icpo Director Police Colonel Kim P. Legada.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation in maintaining a safe and peaceful environment, urging for a solemn and incident-free observance of the holy season.
The Icpo is executing comprehensive security strategies that include day and night patrols, deployment rationalization, coordination with local government units and community groups, and the establishment of Police Assistance Desks (PADs) in areas with high foot traffic. These measures aim to deter criminal activity and allow quick response to incidents.
The Icpo also encourages the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through its hotline numbers: (033) 335-0299 and 0908-377-0194. The police office stressed that community cooperation is crucial in maintaining order during the religious observance.
Alongside its security deployment, the Icpo is urging residents and visitors to support its “Save My Number” campaign. The initiative calls on the public to save police hotline numbers on their phones for immediate use during emergencies, particularly during graduation season, the Holy Week break, summer vacation, and the 2025 midterm election period.
“This is a proactive measure to make sure that help is just one call or text away. We are urging everyone to save our hotline numbers in their phones, so they can contact us without delay in times of need,” Legada said.
The Icpo assured that its personnel will remain available 24/7 and will continue maintaining an active presence in strategic areas throughout Iloilo City.
