THE Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo), under the leadership of Police Colonel Kim Legada, successfully maintained peace and order during the opening week of classes in Iloilo City from June 16 to June 22, 2025.

“The smooth opening of classes is a result of teamwork between the police, the schools, parents, and the community. We remain committed to safeguarding our youth and ensuring a safe learning environment,” Legada said.

To manage the high volume of students and motorists, the Icpo implemented intensified foot and mobile patrols, traffic control in major thoroughfares and school zones, and coordinated efforts with school administrators and community stakeholders. No major incidents were reported during the five-day period.

Police Assistance Desks were set up across multiple schools to provide immediate support and ensure safety, especially in high-density areas.

The Icpo also conducted information campaigns focusing on crime prevention and anti-bullying to support student welfare.

The security effort is aligned with the swift and responsive public service initiative of Police General Nicolas Torre III, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The Icpo emphasized its adherence to the PNP’s community-centered approach, “Huwag niyo na kaming hanapin sa presinto -- kami ay nasa inyong telepono. Dial 911, darating kami sa loob ng limang minuto.”

Icpo encouraged residents to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating with authorities as heightened security measures will remain in place for the rest of the school year.

For assistance, the public may dial 911 or contact the Icpo hotlines at 0908-377-0194 or (033) 335-0299, or visit the nearest Iloilo City police station. (Leo Solinap)
