THE top cop of the Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo) reported significant accomplishments by the Site Task Group (STG) Law Enforcement Operations in Iloilo City ahead of the May 12, 2025 National, Local, and Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections.

Police Colonel Kim P. Legada, city director of the Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo), presented the report during the Iloilo City Joint Security Control Center (CJSCC) Coordinating Conference held on May 3, 2025, at the Icpo Rooftop, Camp Achilles D. Plagata, Iloilo City.

“Our successful operations reflect the readiness of our law enforcement units and the strong cooperation of the community and stakeholders,” Legada said.

He urged for sustained momentum in the remaining days to ensure the successful and peaceful conduct of the elections.

From January 12 to May 2, 2025, Icpo, under the STG, supported the Commission on Elections (Comelec) through intensified operations. In enforcing the Comelec gun ban, seven operations resulted in the arrest of seven individuals and the confiscation of seven firearms.

For violations of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act or 2013, eight warrants of arrest were served, leading to the apprehension of four individuals. Authorities recovered nine firearms and one explosive during these operations.

The campaign against loose firearms yielded 57 firearms in 53 operations --- 19 were voluntarily surrendered and 38 were deposited for safekeeping.

A total of 210 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted, leading to the arrest of 278 individuals. Among them were 76 high-value individuals (HVIs), 190 street-level individuals (SLIs), five unlisted suspects, four minors, and three persons with existing warrants. Authorities confiscated a total of 7,642.5499 grams of suspected shabu.

The Icpo also served 157 warrants of arrest, leading to the apprehension of 161 wanted persons—29 of them categorized as most wanted persons (MWP) and 132 as other wanted persons (OWP).

As part of the intensified campaign against illegal gambling, the Icpo conducted 13 operations, resulting in the arrest of 27 individuals and the confiscation of P19,869 in gambling proceeds.

To reinforce visibility and deterrence, the Icpo established a total of 2,572 checkpoints across Iloilo City.

The CJSCC conference was jointly presided over by Lawyer Pinky Jevini G. Tentativa, Election Officer IV of Comelec-Iloilo City, and Legada.

It was attended by representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Icpo staff, and unit commanders. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
