ILOILO City Police Office (Icpo) has deployed comprehensive security preparations across the city to ensure peaceful conduct of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona), with authorities targeting zero major incidents related to the presidential speech on July 28, 2025.

Police Colonel Kim P. Legada, city director of the Icpo, said directives have been issued to all unit and station commanders as part of coordinated efforts to maintain public safety and order during the national event.

"I would like to appeal to the public, especially those planning illegal activities or acts contrary to the law to exercise courtesy and respect. The Icpo will not hesitate to take appropriate action against anyone who violates the law," Legada said.

The police has strategically positioned sufficient personnel, mobile patrols, and anti-crowd disturbance management contingents throughout Iloilo City to respond to unauthorized mass actions or disruptions that may compromise public safety.

Legada emphasized that law enforcement operations will be conducted with full respect for human rights while ensuring that legal violations are addressed appropriately during the State of the Nation Address period.

"Likewise, rest assured that the Icpo upholds and respects human rights at all times," Legada said.

The security measures include enhanced monitoring of potential trouble spots and increased visibility of police presence in key areas across Iloilo City to deter illegal activities during the presidential address.

All unit and station commanders under Icpo have been directed to maintain heightened alertness and coordinate response efforts to address any security concerns that may arise during the State of the Nation Address.

The comprehensive preparations reflect standard security protocols implemented by local police offices nationwide during significant national events, particularly presidential addresses that may attract public demonstrations or gatherings.

Icpo continues coordinating with Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) and national headquarters to ensure seamless security coverage during Marcos' fourth Sona.

Authorities encourage citizens to remain calm and cooperative while security measures are in effect, emphasizing that constitutional rights will be respected throughout law enforcement operations.

The security deployment will remain active through the conclusion of the Sona and any related activities that may affect public safety in Iloilo City.
