THE Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo), led by City Director Police Colonel Kim P. Legada, reaffirmed its commitment to public service and democratic integrity through its participation in two significant events on June 30, 2025.
At Plaza Libertad, Icpo personnel joined the Iloilo City Government’s flag raising ceremony led by Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu, who formally assumed office as city mayor. The event symbolized strengthened collaboration between the police and local government in building a safer and more progressive Iloilo City.
“This show of support from the Iloilo City Police Office highlights our collective responsibility to maintain peace and order while advancing the city’s development goals,” Mayor Treñas-Chu said during the ceremony.
Later that day, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) convened the Post-Election Conference and Recognition Ceremony at the rooftop of the Administrative Building in Camp Achilles D. Plagata, the Icpo headquarters.
The gathering brought together key stakeholders who ensured the orderly and credible conduct of the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections in Iloilo City.
The event was presided over by Lawyer Pinky Jevini Tentativa, Election Officer IV of Comelec Iloilo City, and attended by Legada, officers-in-charge of Police Stations 1 to 10, unit chiefs, and representatives from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCD), Department of Education (DepEd), and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Each agency presented post-election reports detailing accomplishments, challenges, and suggestions to improve future electoral exercises. Lawyer Tentativa commended the agencies for their professionalism and unwavering support throughout the electoral period.
Certificates of Commendation were awarded to all participating agencies, recognizing their role in maintaining peace, order, and transparency during the electoral process.
The conference ended at 11:40 a.m. with renewed expressions of interagency support and a shared commitment to upholding democratic principles in Iloilo City. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
