THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) implemented a reshuffling of its officers on July 4, 2025.

This move aligns with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) career development and training program.

Police Colonel Kim Legada, ICPO city director, stated that these movements are part of a broader effort to build a more professional and capable police force. “We fully support the career advancement of our officers. While these reassignments may temporarily affect the internal dynamics of some units, they are essential in preparing our personnel for greater responsibilities," Legada said.

Legada assured the public that there would be no leadership gaps and that services to the Ilonggo community would remain consistent and unaffected.

Police Lieutenant Romelo E. Tabuyoc, Officer-in-Charge of Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 1, was relieved from his post to attend the Investigation Officer Basic Course (IOBC). This mandatory course aims to enhance the investigative competencies of police personnel.

Police Captain Melchor A. Tolentino will replace Tabuyoc. Tolentino previously served as chief of police of ICPS 3 and Leon Municipal Police Station (MPS) and held several positions under the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6). Before this reassignment, Tolentino was the Assistant Chief of the City Intelligence Unit (CIU).

Four other officers were also relieved from their posts to attend the same training:

- Police Lieutenant Redan A. Octaviano – ICPS 3

- Police Lieutenant Maryglo A. Morden – ICPS 4

- Police Lieutenant Herald P. Quimbao – ICPS 8

- Police Lieutenant Cosmeflor C. Marco Jr. – ICPS 10

The ICPO assured the public that all police operations and services in Iloilo City remain fully functional and responsive despite the transitions in leadership. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
