ILOILO City Mayor Raisa Treñas has ordered the suspension of classes at all levels in both public and private schools, as well as work in City Government offices on Friday, July 25, 2025.

“Gin-aprubahan ko ang rekomendasyon sang Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center nga magpatigayon sang suspension sang klase sa tanan nga lebel, public kag private, amu man sa tanan nga opisina sang Iloilo City Government, buwas, Biernes, Hulyo 25, 2025,” Treñas said in a statement issued Thursday at 6 p.m.

(I approve the recommendation of the Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center to suspend classes at all levels, public and private, as well as in all offices of the Iloilo City Government, tomorrow, Friday, July 25, 2025.)

While the effects of the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Emong and Tropical Storm Dante have started to normalize, Treñas said the city continues to experience “occasional rains, moderate to strong winds, and moderate to rough coastal conditions, with a high tide of 2.01 meters expected at 10:54 a.m.”

As of the latest update, 37 barangays in the city remain flooded, and 30 evacuation centers continue to operate.

"We cannot compromise the safety and wellbeing of our residents, particularly those severely affected by the flooding," she said.

The mayor emphasized that the suspension is a proactive measure to allow responders and volunteers to concentrate on recovery and assistance efforts. “This proactive measure is intended to provide temporary relief and ensure that government responders and volunteers can continue to focus on immediate recovery and assistance efforts,” he added.

He urged the public to continue supporting one another. “Padayon lang kita sa pagbinuligay. Maghalong kita pirmi kag magbantay sa mga anunsyo sang gobyerno.”
