FROM January 12 to May 15, 2025, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (Ippo) conducted 121 anti-illegal drug operations across the province, resulting in the arrest of 157 individuals, including 46 high-value individuals (HVIs) and 120 street-level individuals (SLIs).
The operations led to the seizure of 6,857 grams of suspected illegal drugs, valued at P45,496,275.16. A total of 336 criminal charges were filed against the suspects.
Police Colonel Roland Bulalacao, officer-in-charge of the Ippo, credited the success of these operations to the dedication of the operating units and the cooperation of the community.
“Our enhanced operational strategies, coupled with the unwavering commitment and active support of our Ilonggo community, have led to these accomplishments," he said.
Bulalacao urged the community to continue supporting the Ippo in pursuing drug offenders and ensuring Iloilo remains a safe and drug-free province.
The Ippo's anti-drug campaign continues to expand with the support of various Municipal Police Stations (MPS), and one of the most recent operations took place in Estancia town.
On May 16, 2025, at 4:59 p.m., the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Estancia MPS launched a buy-bust operation in Barangay Cano-an, Estancia, that led to the arrest of two individuals.
The primary suspect, alias Regs, 48, laborer, and resident of Purok 3, Barangay Cano-an, was identified as a HVI. His companion, alias Roro, 21, laborer from Poblacion Zone 2, was listed as a SLI.
The operation, which followed three months of surveillance and reports from concerned residents, resulted in the confiscation of approximately 81.09 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P551,412. Investigators said the suspects sourced their supply from Iloilo City.
Both suspects are now under the custody of the Estancia MPS and will face charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Bulalacao praised the operatives and reaffirmed the province’s commitment to eradicating drug syndicates.
"This significant arrest highlights the Ippo's unwavering commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks and ensuring the safety and well-being of the Iloilo community," he said.
Bulalacao stated that the relentless pursuit of drug offenders will continue until every drug personality is brought to justice.
The Ippo continues to call on the public to report suspicious activities, underscoring the importance of community vigilance in maintaining peace and order. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
