SEVEN more Covid-19 patients were found to be infected with the Delta variant, the highly transmissible strain of Sars-CoV-2.

The City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (Cesu) released the sequence result dated September 11, 2021 from the Department of Health Epidemiology Bureau.

The city earlier recorded 15 Delta cases. This brought the city’s total number of Delta variant cases to 22.

“We really have to double our guards especially that we have the Delta variant in our midst. I urge everyone to observe stricter protocols, and avail of the vaccination. We have the vaccines waiting for you,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said.

The seven cases will be re-swabbed and quarantined pending results, according to Cesu. Once positive, they will undergo isolation for 14 days. If negative, they will be released from quarantine.

Of the seven, six were tagged as recovered, while one is a cancer patient who is still an active case and fully vaccinated.

Another is also a fully vaccinated case from Carles who stays in a boarding house in La Paz.

One more is fully vaccinated, one partially vaccinated, and three who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

The metropolis has been logging in more than 100 cases every day from September 7 to 13, 2021, with a daily average of 155 cases.

“It is clear that the Delta variant and all the other variants are affecting our numbers. Hospitals are getting full and the deaths are growing. Protect yourself and your families by following health protocols and get vaccinated right away," said Treñas. (PR)
