Aklan guv lifts RT-PCR test requirement for Boracay tourists

THE Aklan Provincial Government lifted Tuesday, February 1, the negative RT-PCR test result requirements for fully vaccinated tourists coming to Boracay Island “effective immediately.”

Miraflores amended Tuesday his Executive Order (EO) 001-A, series of 2022 that was issued last January 6, 2022.

The original EO required fully vaccinated tourists to present a negative RT-PCR test result because then, the number of Covid-19 cases was rising due to the Omicron variant.

Miraflores amended the EO after meeting with stakeholders of Boracay Tuesday morning, February 1.

Reports said the move was part of the Province’s preparation to open Boracay to internationals tourists in the next few weeks.

Malacañang earlier announced that the Philippines will be open to international tourists starting February 16, 2022.

The Malay Tourism Office, meanwhile, reported that Boracay has registered 33,756 tourist arrivals from January 1-28, 2022.

As of Tuesday, February 1, the Provincial health Office reported that Aklan has 699 active Covid-19 cases, of which one has the Omicron variant. (SunStar Philippines)
