THE Office of City Veterinarian (OCV) in Iloilo is conducting an annual vaccination for dogs and cats in time for Rabies Awareness Month this March.

“This is free for all pet owners who want their dogs and cats vaccinated. We encouraged residents to be responsible pet owners by availing of vaccination,” said City Veterinarian Dr. Tomas J. Forteza Jr.

These are the following schedules for the rest of La Paz villages: March 2 for Burgos-Mabini, Aguinaldo, and McArthur; March 3 for Divinagracia, Lopez Jaena Sur; March 4 for Banuyao; March 5 for Gustilo, Tabuc Suba, and Lopez Jaena Norte; March 6 for Caingin, Ticud, and Hinactacan; and March 9 for Baldoza and Ingore.

The activity is being conducted in the morning at venue set by the barangays.

“There must be no left out barangay; all activities must be done by May,” Forteza said.

The mass vaccination, which runs before rainy season, aims to vaccinate at least 70 percent of the total pet population or around 34,000 dogs and cats to be rabies-free.

So far, the initiative was accomplished in 51 barangays in Jaro and La Paz districts.

Forteza said for those who missed the chance in their respective schedules, they can have it in other barangays or they can visit Motorpool for walk-in vaccination. (PR)
