Loose firearms seized in Aklan police operation

POLICE seized unlicensed firearms and ammunition during a search operation conducted by the Batan Municipal Police Station of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (Akppo) in Barangay Camanci, Batan, Aklan, at 6:40 a.m. on April 9, 2025.

Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) Director Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky said, “We commend the effort of our units in the campaign against loose firearms. This was the product of their patience and commitment. Moreover, we highly appreciate the information provided by the community that led to this successful operation.”

Recovered from the operation were one caliber .22 rifle with one magazine and four live cartridges, one airgun rifle without a bolt, and one magazine for a caliber .45 firearm.

The operation was supported by the Akppo-Intelligence Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) in Western Visayas – Provincial Intelligence Team – Aklan, and Regional Special Operations Group.

The suspect, identified only as Wilbert, male, of legal age and a resident of the area, is now under the custody of Batan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
